Early last week, after Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J. — whom the administration has charged with assaulting federal agents during the chaotic arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility on May 9 — filed a court filing for the bodycam footage from that day, we learned Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche had personally ordered Baraka’s arrest.
In May, Ras Baraka, Mayor of Newark, was arrested on charges of federal trespassing at an ICE facility, while Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J. is accused of two counts of assaulting, resisting and impeding an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer at a protest.
The charges against Baraka were later dropped.
Baraka has since sued Habba over his arrest.
Among other acts, she disbanded the office’s storied Civil Rights Division and filed absurd criminal charges against two Democratic politicians, Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka and New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver.
